This is probably a longest time that I've taken to write a not-too-long script and its screenplay. The concept was always at the back of my mind. Execution began (questionable accuracy) roughly 7 months ago. I had watched a documentary last year in one of the college festivals. Though shoddily made, it explored the life of the repressed classes- in this case, a gravedigger, which left an unconscious impact on me. Couple it with one of my primary influences Arvind Adiga, and you get an Omkar wanting to write on such people. And thus is born what I choose to call "Underprivileged fiction" or fiction about the societal residue.
For this, I wanted to team up with a close friend. Somehow, that never worked out and I was stuck with an unfinished script with the usual bouts of insecurity at not being able to do justice to the concept. Work piled up and this was lost under the piling debris of priorities. And then came today.
I had missed out a lecture by a noted journalism personality. Feeling hugely guilty about it, a resolve built up- a "Let's make this day awesome" resolve. Now, I have no idea how awesome, if at all, this day has turned out to be, but I managed to write the script and also make a screenplay for the same. Tentatively titled 'Untitled' (a lame excuse for not thinking of a suitable title yet), it should be out, as per the tradition, in two days.
Hang around till then :D
