And finally after a seemingly eternal hiatus, I am back again! This time, I would like to present before you
THE WATCHMAKER
Written over a span of almost 5 months, this has got immeasurable expectations riding on it, mainly mine. Writing takes a lot out of you. When you do it right, to your satisfaction, you get a high and at other times, it renders you disillusioned with yourself. This story had a lot of such emotions put in it. I really hope you like it.
Okay, so about the story, let me give you some information that'll help you appreciate it more. Starting from the name-
The Watchmaker’s analogy/The clockmaker’s hypothesis:
The clockmaker’s hypothesis a theory that states that God created the universe, but has not interfered with its operation since then. The analogy is that of a clockmaker who makes a clock, winds it up, and lets it run.
In this view, the reason God does not intervene in the world (via miracles) is not that God does not care, but rather that the best of all possible worlds has already been created and any intervention could not improve it. The classical view of an impersonal and abstract God has caused many to claim that this is "cold" and amounts to atheism. But followers of this analogy maintain that the opposite is true and that this view leads to a feeling of awe and reverence based on the fact that personal growth and a constant search for knowledge is required.
So here, I have taken the Watchmaker's literal meaning. How? For that you'll have to wait for 2 more days.
Acknowledgement* time:
Firstly, God- for making me able to write.
Tank, because its due to him that I got to know about this theory. The title screams it is credited to him. Also for his being a dear friend, perennial source of creativity and supportive criticism.
My sis Kats and Sandy for being a constant support system, for making life worth living.
My garden friends and some college and Nagpur friends for making life fun. If it had not been for you, I would've gone bonkers long ago.
My readers and forum friends, for aiding me to have faith in myself.
Lastly, my librarians for helping me experience a variety of literature. Thank you L'mour people!
